These annual grasses make a great addition to your containers and garden beds! Pennisetum is known as fountain grass with beautiful colorful foliage and bottlebrush plumes. Carex, also known as sedges, has a finely textured grasslike look. Stipa, or Mexican Feather Grass, has thin fluffy foliage that moves gracefully in breezes!


  • Light Needs: Full sun
  • Water Needs: Drought tolerant once established
  • Bloom Season: Summer through first frost
  • Height: Pennisetum (2 - 5 feet); Carex (15 inches); Stipa (2 feet)
  • Growth Habit: Upright
  • Lightly feed (1 -2 times per growing season) only if planted in containers.
