Customer Service - Plants

Retail Plants ・ 20-40 Hours Weekly ・ Weekdays & Weekends

Schedule will vary (can start as early as 7:00AM and end as late as 7:30PM)

Our retail department is looking for someone who is knowledge able about gardening in the central New Jersey area. The ideal candidate will be familiar with plants and will have experience identifying and troubleshooting plant problems. This is an outdoor job and the position requires work in various conditions as well as being on your feet all day.

In addition, this person must be able to assist with the stocking and maintenance of all plants, both in the greenhouses and in other retail areas. Having a Master Gardener certificate or other type of horticultural certification would be an asset to this job. Applicants must be 16 years or older and must be able to lift at least 25lbs.

Sales Associate

This position is for someone interested in working with customers and our register system. Tasks will include but are not limited to working on a cash register, straightening work area, upselling and assisting customers. Applicants must be 16 years or older.

Potting Bench & Gift Basket Designer

This position is for someone who has a knack for design and enjoys working with plants and people. Plant knowledge and good customer service is important. Key tasks include: working with customers, helping to pick the correct plants for their pots, and then planting their containers. Tasks also include copying designs that will be sold in our retail area. Applicants must be 16 years or older and be able to lift at least 25lbs.

Plant Handler/Greenhouse Stocker

Schedule will vary (can start as early as 7:30AM and end as late as 6:30PM)

This position is for someone who loves to work outdoors and get their hands dirty. Barlow’s grows 65% of the plants they sell, and this position is key to keeping the plants beautiful & ready for retail. The majority of the time will be spent in the production greenhouses or stocking our retail area. You will also assist in unloading trucks of plant shipments. Applicants must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.

Customer Assistant

This position is for someone who enjoys hard work and helping people. Tasks include, but are not limited to: helping customers load their car with plants, soil, & merchandise; gathering shopping carts from the parking lot; organizing; various tasks around the farm. This job is ideal for someone looking for his or her first job in the workforce. Applicants must be 14 years or older.

Greenhouse Helper          

Production ・ 30-40 Hours Weekly ・ Weekdays & Weekends

Schedule will vary (can start as early as 7:45AM and end as late as 4:30PM)

Our Production team is looking for helpers in the greenhouse. This job includes, but is not limited to: planting, spacing, and trimming plants. In this job, you will also pull orders for wholesale, landscaping customers, and for our retail garden center. This position is located at our private farm in Wall Township.
