When planting…

Tomato beds, you will use 3 pounds, or 9 cups of fertilizer per 50 square feet. Once applied, you will mix the fertilizer into the top few layers (4 to 6 inches) of soil.

Single plants, you will take 3 tablespoons of fertilizer and mix into the dirt when planting.

Potted plants, take one part Tomato-tone® for every 30 parts soil, or 1 and 1/4 cups of fertilizer for every 8 quarts of soil, and mix thoroughly.

When feeding…

  • Rows of tomatoes, you use 1 cup on each side for every 5 feet of row.
  • Single plants, you use 3 tablespoons for every plant.
  • Potted plants, you use 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of fertilizer for 4″ of the pot’s diameter, or 1 and 1/2 tablespoons for each 1 foot of the pot’s diameter.

When applying…

Keep fertilizer 3″ from tomato stem, and apply in a thin band either on each side of the row, or around single plants.

For potted plants, mix into soil evenly.

On new plants, the first application should be 10 to 14 days after, when plant is established.

On established plants, use two times a month from May through August.

Water thoroughly after feeding plants.
